Ceria-Supported Copper And Nickel Catalysts For The Water-Gas Shift Reaction (WGSR)

Ceria-supported base metal catalysts (Cu and/or Ni) prepared by impregnation or coprecipitation were characterised and evaluated for the WGS reaction at moderate temperatures (250-450°C). Nickel has shown to be more active than copper for WGS reaction. The activity of a 5 Ni wt.% catalyst prepared by impregnation was similar to that of a 40 Cu wt.% catalyst commercially used in the WGSR.
