Resumen:
The method of homogeneous precipitation with urea is explored for the preparation of CuO-CeO2 catalysts. Solutions containing 0.5 mol dm-3 urea, Ce(NO3)3 and Cu(NO3)2 where aged at 363 K for 5 h, to achieve a quantitative coprecipitation in the form of amorphous Cu(II)-containing Ce(III) basic carbonates spherical microparticles, achieving a degree of substitution close to 45% in Cu(II) ions. The nature of the pure Ce(III) solid and the limits of segregation of Cu(II) pure phases are also reported. Upon mild thermal treatment under air atmosphere, i.e., T = 723 K powders are readily converted into nano-CeO2. The formed mixed precursors as well as the correspondent mixed oxides are characterized by powder XRD, SEM-EDAX and TGA-DTA.
