Resumen:
R. equi is a faculative intracellular pathogen which is commonly associates with supurative lesions in an immunodeficient host. The bacteria has been recognized as a potential human and animal pathogen. R. equi often causes bronchoneumonia in very young foals which are particularly vulnerable to infection, due to immature or incomplete immune responsiveness. The disease is endemic or sporadic. The description of the ecological, epidemiological and microbiological aspects that permit this agent to live in the enviroment is given. Its persistance in nature is a continous antigenical challenge in the equine host whose immunological response is not always protective. This study will contribute to the prophylaxis, control and erradication of chronic pneumonia in foals.  EL TRABAJO COMPLETO SE ENTREGA EN COPIA IMPRESA
