Resumen:
Promotion and monitoring of breastfeeding require reliableand valid instruments that allow studying the engagement ofitself. Thus, the aim of this study was to analyze the psychometricproperties of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-17) forthe assessment of engagement in breastfeeding practices among324 postpartum Argentinian women. The UWES-17, BreastfeedingSelf-Efficacy Scale, Postpartum Depression Scale, anda sociodemographic questionnaire were applied. Moreover, reliability,validity, dimensionality, sensitivity, and specificity wereanalyzed. The UWES-17 demonstrated adequate levels of internalconsistency, and its three-dimensional structure was confirmed.Bifactorial analysis supported its usage, and the model verified itsexternal validity. The results validate the UWES-17 as a valid andreliable tool for assessing breastfeeding engagement, thus makingit suitable for implementation in clinical and scientific contexts tosupport interdisciplinary approaches to breastfeeding.
