Resumen:
The objective of this study is to add new records of micromammals from Chaco Province, and to discuss briefly their implications at a regional level. A sample of owl pellets from Tyto alba was collected at EGB School Nº 278 ?Francisco Joulhe? (26º48?54?S, 59º06?50?W), Chaco province, skulls and mandibles were analyzed. A total of 19 species of micromammals (15 rodents, 2 bats and 2 marsupials) were recorded. The sample was dominated by O. cf Oligoryzomys fornesi-flavescens, Holochilus chacarius, Akodon azarae and Calomys callosus, which accounted for 90.5% of the total number of individuals. New records of a rare species were obtained for the Chaco region (e.g. Chacodelphys formosa), the distribution of some species were expanded (e.g. Sooretamys angouya) and gaps for other were filled (Oecomys sp.). This contribution shows the scarce knowledge we have on micromammals from Chaco province, as well as the importance of the owl pellets analyses to assess the structure of micromammals assemblages, without altering wild populations.
