Descripción:
Irolita westraliensis is a poorly-known skate, endemic to western Australia. Recent taxonomic revision has split the southern form (Irolita waitii McCulloch, 1911) from I. westraliensis, and as such this species has a relatively restricted distribution on the outer continental shelf and upper slope in depths of 140-210 m. Essentially nothing is known of its ecology or life history. Despite this, its area of occurrence receives little demersal fishing effort, and with no significant threats apparent, an assessment of Least Concern is warranted. However, any future expansion of demersal trawling within its range may pose a risk given its limited geographic and bathymetric distribution
