Resumen:
Amino acids are ubiquitously found in all living cells. Therefore, although they are usually present in low concentrations in cells, they represent interesting model substances to examining the interaction with lipid membranes. Phenylalanine (Phe), has an aromatic ring with some degree of hydrophobicity, which is expected to influence molecular arrangements of phospholipids in bilayers and monolayersResults obtained with DPPC monolayers (Maturana et al, SAB 2014), showed that Phe produces an association with the PC molecules which suggests a molecular interaction of the head groups with Phe residues. In addition, this interaction appears related with the hydration state of the lipid interphase (Cutro-Disalvo, SAB 2014).In this study, the purpose is to obtain evidence of the molecular interaction of Phe with different regions of DPPC molecules in a bilayer at different degrees of hydration by means of FTIR/ATR spectroscopy.
