Resumen:
This paper highlights that the experiences of Bolivian migrant women are heterogeneous. Their trajectories differ depending on whether they migrate with male relatives or on their own. Besides, the kind of labor market in which they participate conditions their work experiences and everyday life in different ways. We focus on the case of those who have migrated with or after a male relative to peri-urban areas of Córdoba or Buenos Aires cities. We study the way in which the intersection of inequalities such as gender, class, ethnicity, race constructions, nationality and migratory status gets in the way of their territorial trajectories, work experiences and family life. We also consider the intertwining of other factors such as networks, state control, social and human capital, labor markets, stereotypes and family relationships. We argue that migration itself does not necessarily lead to autonomy.
