Resumen:
Petrified woods of Anacardiaceae and Fabaceae are studied from the Middle-Late Miocene (Parana Formation), Entre Rios Province, Argentina. Two new fossil species Astroniumxvlon portmannii gen. et sp. nov. and Anadenantlieroxvlon uillaurouicense gen. et sp. nov., are described. The fossil descriptions are based on two anatomically preserved stems. The fossil assemblage suggests the existence of a forest paleocommunity adjacent to a fluvio-marine environment, with a warm-temperate and humid to sub-humid climate. The presence of Astroniuntxvlon, a genus related to Astronium [acq., and Anadenaniheroxulon related to Anadenanihera Speg. in the Middle-Late Miocene of NE Argentina, widens their palaeogeographical distribution indicating a warmer climate than nowadays for this region. Their affinities and palaeobiogeographical relations are discussed.
