Resumen:
Abstract: CONTRIBUTE TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF UPPER CENOZOIC PALEOBIODIVERSITY OF THE ARGENTINEAN LITORAL REGION: PALEOFLORISTIC STUDIES. The Río de la Plata basin is the fluvial system with most geographical dimensions and economic potentialities of the south region of South America. Four principal drainage areas conformed this hydrological system: the Paraná river basin, the Uruguay river basin, the Iguazú river basin and the Paraguay river basin. The Argentinean Litoral region is located in middle and inferior sector of this basin, in narrow linking with the Paraná and Uruguay rivers. This region is characterized to possess a great number of paleobotanic locations that embrace Miocene to Holocene sediments. In the present contribution is carried out the summary of paleobotanical and paleopalynological studies of both basins, detailed according to the paleofloristic record in their different geological times. Starting from the miocenic marine ingression deposit; Upper Cenozoic (Late Pleistocene and Middle Pleistocene-Holocene) fluvial deposit of Paraná river basin, and Quaternary fluvial deposit of Uruguay River basin.CONTRIBUTE TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF UPPER CENOZOIC PALEOBIODIVERSITY OF THE ARGENTINEAN LITORAL REGION: PALEOFLORISTIC STUDIES.
