Resumen:
Adsorption of contaminants in fixed bed columns is one of the most practical applications for industrial wastewater treatment. In dynamic column adsorption, the determination of the breakthrough curves (c/c 0 vs. time, where c0 is the contaminant inlet concentration in the liquid phase and c the outlet concentration) is a very important issue because it provides the information for column design [1]. The aim of this work was to study two different mathematical models to describe the adsorption mechanism of hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) onto chitosan flakes in a fixed bed column.
