Resumen:
Vegetable oils and their derived fatty acids are often used as alternatives to the traditional petroleum derived feedstock in the development of new biobased polymers because of their low cost, availability and high chemical versatility. A novel paradigm that features a constant reshuffling of covalent cross-links by covalent exchange reactions permitting reorganization of the network topology and stress relief while maintaining the cross-linking density at a constant level has been recently proposed. These polymers were named "vitrimers" and their obtaining from biomass derived resources could lead to green polymeric materials with functional properties like shape memory, self-healing and reprocessability of great scientific and technological interest. In this work, the thermally activated stress relaxation properties of green vitrimers obtained through the polymerization of different bio-based precursors are presented and discussed.
