Resumen:
Staphylococcus aureus induced bovine intramammary infection is one of the biggest problems in the dairy industry, commonly leading to a subclinical, persistent course of infection. Herd-specific, predominant isolates are frequently recovered, suggesting permanent bacterial adaptations to the bovine udder microenvironment. Thus, we followed S. aureus within-host adaptation over the course of three months in one naturally infected dairy cattle with chronic, subclinical intramammary infection. Genomic and phenotypic analysis was conducted and revealed the importance of SigB regulon during chronic intramammary infection.
