Resumen:
Sloshing problems comprises free-surface flow cases in closed domains, where an external excitation produces the interface motion and deformation. Here, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is applied to solve this kind of problems through the finite volume method (FVM) for solving the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in the gas and liquid domain, while the interface is represented by a volume-of-fluid (VOF) technique. The numerical tools are part of the free and open source CFD software Code Saturne, developed for solving large size problems in HPC environments. The method is evaluated by solving a long-term harmonic sloshing case, that has been experimentally studied and previously solved by a two-dimensional strategy, with the aim of establishing the performance of the FVM-VOF method for the available HPC resources.
