Resumen:
The hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are among the leading obstetric causes of maternal deaths, and the obstetric cause that has shown the least reduction in maternal death over the past 30 years. Annually, 30 000–45 600 women and approximately 500 000 neonates die due to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.3 These disorders also lead to more than a third of all fetal deaths in low-income and middle-income countries. Calcium supplementation reduces the occurrence of these disorders by half, especially in settings where dietary calcium intake is low
