Climate change in Patagonia has affected forest distribution.Nevertheless, the relative stability of the Coastal Mountain Rangeprovided suitable conditions for the long-term persistence of treepopulations, as shown by genetic studies of charismatic forestgenera such as Nothofagus and Embothrium.
