The wave-induced macroturbulence due to breaking in the surf zone (SZ) is sytudied from un experimental point of view using detailed field data. The DELTA'93 experiments were carried out in the Trabacudaor bar of the Ebro Delta , in the spanish mediterranean coast. The emphasis was on the SZ vertical flow structures, measuring simultaneously cross-shore and longshore velocities in a barred profile. The measurements are compared with state of art formulations for de SZ turbulence.
