Resumen:
Algae bloom is an ecological phenomenon involvingrapid growth of algae population in a short period. There are risks tobiodiversity and hydric resource usage when cyanobacteria are found in theseblooms due to the toxins these bacteria can secrete. Given that chlorophyllconcentration is an indirect indicator of the phytoplankton biomass, being ableto monitor it in real-time could allow the application of better resourcesmanagement policies. There are fluorometers in the market that take advantageof this phenomenon to measure chlorophyll concentration. However, theseinstruments can be expensive and with few customization options for long-termdeployments.This paper presents the development of a low-costfluorometer sensor prototype for in-situ chlorophyll detection and monitoringat lakes. The device was built with easy-to-buy commercial components (ArduinoLeonardo), and its structure was 3D printed. The sensor´s response signal was studied by measuringa series of rhodamine wt dissolved in water at different concentrations (n=14).The result of this experiment allowed us to determine the measurement range ofthe sensor. Finally, to analyze the usefulness of the sensor in a realenvironment, a series of measurements were conducted with samplescontaining  Microcystis spp (n = 9) andlater were compared with a commercial probe.
