Two dimensional numerical models used to solve pollutant dispersion in the far field-become unrefiable in situations where the transport or the hydrodynamic environment is fully three dimensional. This is the case of  near-field, or discharges in water bodies where nearshore wind induced currentes exist. A three-dimensional Lagrangian model, designed to solve the 3D convection-diffusion equation, therefore, to simulate pollutant transport in a non-uniform and stratified hydrodynamic flows , has been developed. ...
