Resumen:
The presence of macroroughnesses, produces changes in the hydrodynamics and in the freesurface (elevation of the water surface) of the flow; which are relevant in the velocity distribution at the water-air interface and its relation with the velocity profile in depth. An alternative to laboratory experimental techniques to study this interrelationship in detail, is through the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). A validated model with experimental data allows to study the dynamics of floats (tracers) in rapidly varying flows, characterizing more precisely mean flow and turbulent fluctuation near the free surface. This work reports advances in the validation with experimental data of a two-dimensional model with two phases (water-air), which incorporates macroroughnesses (hemicylinder) arranged in the bottom of the channel. It´s been used a free and open-source software called OpenFOAM(R).
