Resumen:
Central Western Argentina shows during historical times a surprising mosaic of human strategies, ranging from population with domestic plants and animals in one extreme, to population focus on wild resources to the other. In general this variation was associated with more sedentary and dense populated opposite to more mobile and more scattered populations. Using radiocarbon SPD as demographic proxy we explore how different was the demographic trajectory in different area of the region and how variable was during the last 3000 years. The first results shows that the incorporation and spread of domesticate was associated with some pick in human demography and, on the other hand, hunter gatherer archaeological record suggest changes in its organization system.
