The present papers shows how journalistic discourse "helps" readres to understand globalisation. The theoretical framework of Cognitive Linguistics allows to recognise in a discourse the relation between linguistics expressions, metaphors, mental representation and ideological manipulation. The metholology eployed in the developement of the paper is as follows: 1) Reconstruction of the idealized cognitive model (ICM) of globalisation from a random corpus of metaphors collected in texts used for information activities and taken from the economic supplements of La Nación y Clarín; 2) linguistic analysis of an editorial note, selected because of its illocutionary force.
