Resumen:
An RM/FORTRAN computer program for the numerical solution of tide-and wind-driven currents is presented. The model solves the nonlinear two-dimensional hydrodynamic equations by a finite differencing method on a constructed zigzag boundary. The alternating-direction implicit (ADI) algorithm is implemented, and the model requires only the solution of block-tridiagonal systems of linear algebraic equations. In contrast to the conventional vertically integrated model, the bed shear stress is determined from the bottom currents, which are computed using the linear three-dimensional hydrodynamic equations and the Galerkin technique in the vertical. The program includes an option to run the model using the conventional representation of the bed shear stress based on the depth mean currents. Applications under idealized and field conditions are described also. Copyright © 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
