Resumen:
The COVID-19 disease presents a dynamic nature characterized by distinct and well-defined pathophysiological phases. As the disease progresses, an exacerbated inflammatory response accompanied by marked lymphopenia and dysfunctional immune response that could lead to the sepsis progression and dead. Nevertheless, clinically, accurately determining the patient's stage or identifying those individuals at advanced risk of progressing to more severe conditions remains challenging. This shows the need to develop methods or tools to recognize those COVID-19 patients with a higher risk of progressing to more severe conditions, including death. Technologies such as peptidomes -a section of proteomics that studies the whole of peptides that make up a biological sample) -and predictive models based on multivariate analysis have raised significant expectations in the study of various pathologies.
