Resumen:
Abstract The transformation of global Catholicism during the Second Vatican Council changed the Argentinean Church and its position in society. As Catholicism became more ?society-centered? than ?state-centered? during the Sixties, Argentinean Catholics got involved in different sides of the political discussion. While some supported a dictatorial regime as a way to keep Catholic control over society, others thought the end of dictatorship and a fair society could be achieved only through revolution. The pages of the magazine Cristianismo y Revolución (CyR) displayed the whole of this process, from the transformation of Catholicism to the commitment to the armed struggle. Argentinean Catholics found in CyR a moral vocabulary that allowed them to support and join revolutionary organizations. The ?Camilo Torres Commands? and the Montoneros guerrillas became forms of concrete political action. The situation of conflict between Onganía?s dictatorship, progressive Catholics, and anti-liberal Catholics made evident the growing pluralism within Catholicism. Different Catholic actors, independently of the Church?s structure, claimed Catholic beliefs to support opposing political positions. Key words Secularization ? Guerrillas ? Marxism ? Christianity ? Authority ? Religion-Argentina
