Resumen:
A new modulation strategy that allows operating thedual active bridge (DAB) dc-dc converter under soft-switching inthe whole operating range is proposed. This strategy is ruled byimposing a certain modulation index in one of the two bridges anda phase-shift between the transformer primary and secondaryvoltages. Moreover, the proposed algorithm reduces the reactivepower and thus reducing the converter conduction losses. Anexperimental prototype was implemented and some experimentalresults are presented to validate the theoretical analysis. Theexperimental results reveal that the overall efficiency of theDAB topology can be improved up to 20% by implementing theproposed modulation strategy instead of the conventional one.
