Resumen:
In this work, to selectively encapsulate a chromophore within a BCP domain we utilized noncovalent interactions, such as hydrogen bonding (H-bond). Poly (4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) is an excellent candidant for one of the blocks of the BCP due to the ability of the pyridine group to H-bond with phenol functionalized chromophores. So, Disperse Orange 13 (DO13) was hydrogen bonded to the 4-vinylpiridine unit of a diblock copolymer, polystyrene-block-poly (4-vynilpyridine) (PS-b-P4VP), to form a supramolecule PS-b-P4VP (DO13). We investigated the effect of adding different amount of DO13 to the copolymer in the orientation of the final morphology generated. Furthermore, the possibility of selectively encapsulate azo chromphores in one of the blocks of the copolymers to develop nanostructured materials for reversible optical data storage we also evaluated.
