Resumen:
The Phlegrean Volcanic District (PVD), in the northern part of the Gulf of Naples (Italy), is formed by the Phlegrean Fields (PF) on the land and by the islands of Procida and Ischia. The PF magmatic system is still active, as testified in recent time by the bradyseismic crises of the years 1969-72 and 1982-84. From January 1985 the area is undergoing a slow but continuous subsidence phase, with only short uplift events recorded in 1989, 1994 and 2000. the island of Ischia, at the northwestern end of the Gulf of Naples, is an active volcanic area, as testified from both historical activity and diffused hydrothermanl activity. This work use Differential SAR Interferometry to measure the deformation evolution of the area between 1992 and 2000, and compares the result with the measurements made by classical geodesy, i.e. levelling networks.
