Resumen:
Natural products (NP) have extensive structural and functional diversity
and provide research topics for chemists, biologists and
doctors. The use of synthetic pesticides for controlling insects
has caused resistance, emergence of new pests, pollution and other
damage resulting from accidental misuse and application. The NP
of plants may be an option for an integrated management program
and emerge as an alternative for controlling stored grain pests.
Previously we report the insect growth regulatory effects of natural
labdanes from Grindelia pulchella Dunal var. pulchella, in this study
we obtained 12 semi-synthetic derivates of the natural metabolites
and we show the effects they produced on adults of Tenebrio molitor.
The mortality of larvae of T. molitor was studied by toxicity tests
by topical application of the compounds and they were monitored
every 24 hours until day 5, showing mortality values between 45
and 100%. The best results against insects were obtained with side
chain oxygenated products.
