Resumen:
Optical vortices (OV) are electromagnetic fields with complex amplitude and phase structure. They present surprising properties such as points where the phase cannot be defined (phase singularities), integer orbital angular momentum (AM) in the direction of propagation, and more. A detailed control of the EM-field allows to manipulate the electronic state of semiconductor quantum dots (QD) in an exquisite way by single pulses of light. Here we present three modes of excitation, that generate electron-hole pairs of heavy or light holes with different amounts of macroscopic and microscopic angular momentum. We discuss possible applications of this detailed control to spintronics.
