In order to understand the nature of the ecosystems and the relationship between human groups and the his environment during the Holocene an archaeological perspective and ecological approach are necessary to tackle the heterogeneity of the landscape and the multiple factors that contributed to human behavior. In this way, our aims is to generate new paleoenvironmental data through pollen analysis of natural Holocene profiles and archaeological sites located in Jujuy Puna in order to assess the nature of human occupations during the Holocene. This information will form the basis for the construction of a paleoenvironmental model. This model will be a tool for generating expectations about social and economic strategies developed by the humans groups, and then be evaluated with the archaeological record.
