Resumen:
Genetic structure is to some extent determined by its mating pattern. The effect of border change in Olivenza (Badajoz) on mate choice is analyzed fron ecclesistical records during a century (1750-1850). Surname frequencies and repeated pairs o surnames show that after the change of domain there was a greater proportion of marriages within the same lineages. As time passed, the effect of the barrier between Portugal and Spain disappeared.
