Resumen:
Xylotafofloristics studies from the Llantenes Formation, Upper Triassic, Mendoza, Argentina. The purpose of this contribution is to analyze the anatomy and determine the systematic of fossil woods from the Llantenes Formation, Upper Triassic, Mendoza (Argentina). The following gymnosperm species are identified: Chapmanoxylon jamuriense (Maheshwari) Pant & Singh and Megaporoxylon kaokense Kräusel previously registered from Permian of India, Africa and South America and the Triassic of Brazil; Agathoxylon protoaraucana (Brea) Gnaedinger & Herbst recorded from the Triassic and Jurassic of Argentina, and Agathoxylon sp. The anatomical characters that showed adaptations to the environment were examined and observations were made to identify the type of growth ring in order to obtain information about the paleoclimate, and this was compared with sedimentological data. The morphological features of taphonomical interest were observed to gather data about the conditions in which the material went through the fossilizations process. The achieved results increase the paleofloristic record of this formation, which until now, hosts fossil wood related to Pinales and Ginkgoales, in addition to an already known taphoflora of Osmundales, Equisetales and Umkomasiales. These novelties allow elaborating paleobotanical, evolutive and paleoenvironmental considerations for the Triassic from Argentina as for the palaeoxylofloras of the southern cone of South America.
