Resumen:
Glutamine (GLN) has been reported to contribute to cell survival by stimulation of autophagy and inhibition of apoptosis.We evaluate the GLN effect on the process of autophagy and its link to GLN capability to protect the intestinal Ca2+absorption under MEN treatment. Four week-old chicks were divided in: 1) Controls, 2) Treated with 2.5 μmoles of Menadione (MEN) / kg b.w., 3) treated with GLN (0.5 g / kg b.w.), 4) treated with GLN + MEN. The autophagy was evaluated through the measurement of acidic vesicular organelles (AVOs) by fluorescence microscopy. Protein expression of LC3-II was evaluated by WB. The presence of autophagosomes was analyzed by electronic microscopy (EM). Data were analyzed by ANOVA and the Bonferroni´s test. Differences were significant at p
