Resumen:
The relatively recent development of ?isoscapes? (i.e. isotopic landscapes) is used to visualize large-scale and spatiotemporal distributions of stable isotope ratios in various environmental matrices or reservoirs such as rainfall, tap waters, oceans, rocks, plants and animals. In this context the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) financed the project titled "Groundwater recharge processes inferred from isoscapes in the Buenos Aires Province, Argentina". In the development of this research project, groundwater Isoscapes in the southeast of Buenos Aires province were performed, considering more than 700 groundwater samples station. In the generation of these maps, geostatistical techniques have been used to establish patterns of spatial self-correlation, these allowed to infer isotopic values in areas with lacking information. The models obtained were tested using leave-one out cross-validation. The results obtained are being integrated into the conceptual hydrogeological model of the region, generating tools that contribute to the management of ground water resources. Additionally, it is expected that the results of this work will serve as an input in different research areas that use water traceability to study different environmental processes in the region.
