Resumen:
Thesea anemone Anthopleura mariscali Daly and Fautin, 2004 wasdescribed as an endemic species of the Galápagos Archipelago. Its authors suggestedthat it may have been overlooked elsewhere because of its small size and becauseit is usually found inside cracks and crevices. This report presents the firstrecord of A. mariscali outside itstype locality. Eight specimens were collected from a rocky promontory in PlayaAgujas, Puntarenas, on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.  Analyses of their cnida composition arepresented along with images of some sea anemones when they were still alive .
