Geomagnetic Storms and telluric currents

An overview of solar events, solar wind disturbances and geomagnetic activity for the declining phase of the last solar cycle is presented with an emphasis on a gas pipeline in the auroral zone. The events analized were: 12-13/4/2001; 20-21/11/2003; 13-14/10/2004 and 24- 26/8/2005. They were four periods of pronounced events, and there were unusually increments in magnetic variations at areas of high latitudes and geomagnetic induced currents that occurred in the pipeline projecting significant increases of corrosion in its structure.
