Resumen:
This presentation aim to analyse the material evidences of the gold and silver mining activities that took place in the Puna of Jujuy, Argentina, during colonial times (XVII-XVIIIth centuries). This research combines the archaeological and historical methodologies, presenting, on one hand, the materiality found in the area, product of these activities, and approaching, on the other, to the technology used in this period and the space disposition of these exploitations. We are also interested in the relationship between these practices and the occupation and use of this territory by the European and also by indigenous population during this period.
