Resumen:
Experiments and Numerical simulations on Dy2Ti2O7 with H//[111].R. A. Borzi, A. G. Green, S. A. Grigera, and D. Slobinsky We study three different aspects of the magnetisation process ofDy2Ti2O7 when field is applied along or very near to [111]. First we discuss the low field passage from spin-ice to kagome -ice.In principle this should not involve any thermodynamic phasetransition; however,  we show that if special care is not taken in theexperiments, the magnetisation progresses through a succession of verysudden jumps.  These look even sharper than the real 1st ordertransition occurring at higher fields. The curves depend dramaticallyon the measuring protocol. Second, we focus on the kagome-ice plateau and the proposed Kasteleyntransition for fields applied at angles slightly away from [111].  We show preliminary Monte Carlo results on this geometric transition, using both static and short-time critical dynamics approaches.
