Resumen:
A new species from the province Catamarca (Argentina), Gymnocalycium marianae (Cactaceae) is described here as new to science. It differs from Gymnocalycium baldianum by larger stems and flowers, by stronger spination and more ribs as well as by characteristics of the karyotype
