Resumen:
In the mid-seventies, a succession of international events marked the decline of a certain type of relation between religion and modernity, which had been based on the strategies of adaptation that the former held towards the latter (Kepel, 1995, Berger, 2001). Suddenly, religious discourses that focused on opposition to modern values gained a relevance that would have been unthinkable during a decade marked by a faith in progress and the development of a secular utopia, such as was the case with the sixties. Nevertheless, we must analyze what type of relation these religiosities established towards modernity; whether we are talking about an opposition to it, or whether this modernity added legitimacy to the religious revival.
