Resumen:
Salmonella is an important cause of foodborne disease worldwide. Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica comprises approximately 1600 serovars, however, no more than twenty are frequently associated with human infections.Derby is a serotype commonly found in pigs and pork products, mainly in Europe, Asia, and USA. In USA this serovar is among the most frequently isolated Salmonella serovars from clinical non-human sources. Several outbreaks have been linked to Salmonella Derby. In bacteria, small RNAs (sRNAs) are a major class of non-coding RNAs. They are typically between 50 and 200 nucleotides in length, regulate gene expression and have been linked to pathogenicity. Trans-acting sRNAs, one of the two major types of sRNAs, are encoded in intergenic regions and regulate the expression of distantly located genes via imperfect complementarity. Using RNA-seq we studied the transcriptomic profile of two human clinical isolates of Salmonella Derby.
