Resumen:
Because of their sessile condition, plants are continuously exposed to solar radiation. Light is required as a source of energy for photosynthesis but it also acts as an environmental signal regulating important processes such as growth and development. One of the components of the solar spectrum is UV-B radiation (280-315 nm). Besides acting as a photomorphogenic signal, UV-B radiation at high intensities can cause damage on the DNA, lipids and proteins. In addition, it can inhibit plant growth and elongation of primary root. In this work, we investigated the effect of UV-B on Arabidopsis primary roots using five different A. thaliana ecotypes (Col-0, Col-3, Col-4, WS and LER).
