Resumen:
In this paper, Pt and PtSn catalysts supported on novel carbonaceous materials supports for the non-oxidative direct dehydrogenation of n-butane to n-butenes, were prepared. Carbonaceous materials selected were: carbon nanotubes and Vulcan carbon, and these materials functionalized with HNO3. The monometallic catalysts were prepared by conventional impregnation technique using an aqueous solution of the Pt precursor (H2PtCl6) and bimetallic catalysts by successive impregnation of the monometallic catalyst using a hydrochloric solution of SnCl2. The characterization of the metallic phase of the catalysts was carried out by different techniques and the catalytic behaviour was related with the characteristics of the metallic phase. PtSn0.3/CV-F and PtSn0.3/CN-P catalysts showed the best catalytic behaviour, this is activity, selectivity and performance in the dehydrogenation of n-butane, and low deactivation. This fact could be attributed to the Sn loading and the differences in the chemical properties of the carbonaceous materials, which lead to the formation of a suitable metallic phase favouring dehydrogenation reaction and inhibiting collateral ones, thus showing a good dispersion and accessibility to the reactants.
