Functional materials can be immobilized into calcium alginate beads for water treatments. One of the alternatives consists in the encapsulation of LayeredDouble Hydroxide (LDH) in beads of hydrogel of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium alginate (AS) for the removal of contaminants in water, among otherapplications.
