Resumen:
During
solidification and forming of the casting, thermal stresses due to temperature evolution
are generated in the metal and the mold. The aim of this work is to study the
coupling between thermal transfers and mechanical behavior in order to understand
the effects of mechanical phenomena on casting defects.
An
experimental apparatus has been designed in CRPAM in order to measure displacements
and temperatures in nodular cast iron and sand mold. Measurements have been
performed in several points within the casting and the mold.
In CIMNE
and Renault, the numerical modeling of CRPAM' test has been carried out.
The finite
element package ABAQUS has been used to this end. An uncoupled mechanical simulation
has been performed after running a thermal calculation. Contact elements have been
included between the casting and the mold and temperature dependent
elastoplastic consti1utive laws have been employed for both the casting and the
sand mold.
Some
discrepancies are found between numerical and experimental results. We believe
that it is mainly due to the modeling of the liquid phase and of the sand
material.
