The PSA studies for research reactors are required for licensing purposes in Argentina, and in many of these studies generic fault data has to be used (as there is lack of specific data). However, there is a significant amount of existing data in the quite long operating experience of several research reactors, mainly RA-3, with more than 20 operating years and RA-6 with more than 20 operating years.
An agreement with CNEA has been made, in order to get access to the RA-3 and RA-6 operating experiencie and to gather the necessary data to participate in the project.
If is expected that the participation on the project will upgrade the reliability data base used in Argentina to perform other research-reactor PSAs in the future, as well as train personnel in the specific tasks related to data acquisition and processing.
