Conformational Changes and Thermal Stability of Basic Chicken Liver Fatty Acid Binding Protein in Lipid Membranes

We have previously described that ChL-FABP binds to lipid membranes when electrostatic interactions are favoured. Here we present the changes in the conformation and thermal stability of ChL-FABP when it binds to to the membranes, and the changes the protein produces in the membrane organization. The results obtained suggest that the conformational changes observed upon binding do not correspond to an extensively unfolded protein vut to a partially unfolded state, associated to the membrane, in reversible equilibrium with the protein in solution.
