Resumen:
The use of biopolymers as chitosan (CS) and alginate (SA) in the treatment of wastewater is a great area of research due to their remarkable affinity to dyes and heavy metal ions. These two polysaccharides with opposite charges have the ability to form complexes with different types of contaminants, acting like adsorbents. However, after adsorption it can be difficult to separate and recover the adsorbent polymers from the aqueous contaminated solution. Adding magnetite nanoparticles to these systems can offer the possibility to recover the material by the application of a magnetic field, to mention one of the potential special advantages. In this work, chitosan and sodium alginate were selected as the polymeric matrices for the preparation of magnetic films. The nanocomposites were physical and magnetic characterized pointing out the differences between the two bio-matrices.
