Resumen:
Lately, due to the development of fuel cells hydrogen has gained attention as an energy vector especially if it is produced from renewable sources, as biomass-derived alcohols since this could contribute to reduce global warming effects. Added to this, biodiesel production by transesterification of vegetal oils has increased abruptly during the last years, being glycerol the mail by product of this process and as a consequence market price of glycerol has decreased. In this context, hydrogen production by steam reforming of glycerol seems to be a good alternative. There are several studies regarding glycerol steam reforming, most of this studies based on noble metal [1-6] and Ni catalysts supported over alumina, carbon or over modified supports with ceria, lanthana, maganesium or zirconia [7-8]. In this work, the aim is to analyze product distribution for glycerol steam reforming over coprecipitated Ni(II)-Mg(II)-Al(III) layered double hydroxide catalyst; which synthesis has already been explained elsewhere [9] and to propose a reaction scheme for glycerol steam reforming.
